Hello again. I took a bit of a vacation. My last post in June about Outlaw Country threw me for a loop. The playlist was exceptional, but the writing piece was not up to par. This was discouraging for me, because I loved all my other pieces. Right around that time I got a new job. The job became very time consuming and my plan was to settle into my senior year and begin writing again. So there’s my half-assed justification for my absence. I’m sure you were all foaming at the mouth, wondering where I have been. For those of you who asked about my Substack during my absence (Shoutout Professor Robins, author of Critical Conditions by Wayne Robins), thank you for caring.
In hindsight, it certainly would have been challenging to keep up with quality writing pieces and a full time serving job, but I should have kept up with it. Writing for this Substack and hearing feedback brings me legitimate happiness. Happiness in the sense of when a philosophy professor asks “What does it mean to be happy?” 1 AM Media is an idea and an expressive outlet that I have an undying affection for. There is nothing that brings me more joy than to sit and write about something that I care about from start to finish. I wrote my college essay about creating things that you want to create regardless of quality in others eyes as well as the value in doing something from start to finish.
With all of this being said, I have a minor announcement to make. 1 AM Media will be potentially bringing on new writers. This idea is still in the beta phase but when/if new writers begin to post, you will be able to discern between the writers. Take this information with a grain of salt because I do not know where we will go with it.
For now, I am so excited to be back. I am so excited to make 1 AM Media a priority in my life because it really means so much to me. If you’re not already subscribed, feel free to do so (it’s free). Last but not least, thank you to those who did subscribe in the early days of 1 AM Media. You make me feel validated in writing these, because while I love to write, I’d prefer not to just write into the void.
Thank You!
